"If it makes you feel any better," Nathan tells Elijah after a moment and in the interim, while Elena gathers the weapons, "this really isn't the stupidest plan we've ever had?"
They've done more ridiculous things than this and done them successfully.
Elijah glances up at him, the hints of an amused smirk ghosting across the corners of his lips. "In some ways, it's too simple to truly be considered stupid."
But that's just his humble opinion.
And a few minutes later, Elena returns with lots of knives and passes them up to her husband. "Here you go."
"I'm not sure if that's supposed to be an insult or a compliment," Nathan tells him, frowning, either way. He continues to look sour for several seconds, in fact, before Elena brings the machetes to him. He looks away then to take them from here and start inserting them into the groove between the wall and its moving parts.
"Okay, that should do it," Nathan decides, when he runs out of machetes.
Now, it's up to Elijah to make a break for it. After he sets him down, anyway.
Elijah sets Nate down easily, before moving to the front of the room. With a deep breath, he dashes forward, unleashes his brother, and drags him back out again, depositing him near one of the bodies for a quick snack.
Once that's done, he adjusts his suit before turning back to the couple. "You have my thanks for your help. But I would understand if you'd like to leave now."
Elena glances to Nate, raising an eyebrow curiously.
Nathan meets her gaze and shrugs. He's really not sure whether they should stick around or not.
On one hand, he'd like to get a look at everything here, even if the Fountain of Youth, as it were, is gone. On the other, they should probably get away from the vampires. He's leaning towards the former, danger be damned, but he's never been known for his good decision-making skills, so Elena might want to take the reins on this one. He'll follow her lead.
For once, the building isn't collapsing around them, so ... that's at least a pro, considering some of the situations they get themselves in. And she does want to document all the non-vampire related stuff for her show.
"We're going to go back and have a look at some of the stone work out front. If you could let us know when your brother is done?"
Elijah nods. "Thank you, again, for your help. I'm in your debt."
That's definitely a step up from how these things usually end, yes -- and, honestly, he's surprised they didn't bring the house down, when he decided to jam the sunlight mechanism full of machetes. Small miracles, he supposes, as is the fact that they're actually making it out of this alive otherwise, despite his almost-inability to leave well enough alone.
"Yeah, no problem," Nathan tells him. A pause, then he's nodding towards the door. "After you, Miss Fisher."
